HPB Association Management Services Inc. is a privately-owned management firm incorporated in September 2001. HPB has offices in Ottawa and Vancouver to provide clients with expert advice and assistance on a wide-range of services including industry association management, events management, special projects, government relations, regulatory and advocacy activities.

Our Team

HPB principals, Forrest Hume, LL.B., Cindy Hick, and Robert H. Ballantyne, P.Eng, have extensive, in-depth knowledge and experience in
resolving many challenges facing today’s not-for-profit associations in planning and executing strategic policies and programs in a timely and
cost-effective manner. They also have extensive experience in event planning from world technical conferences involving several hundred delegates
from around the globe to small briefing sessions of 25-30 people focusing on some specific topic for a group of specialists.

Forrest C. Hume, LLB

Forrest earned a law degree from Dalhousie
University in 1974 and is a member of the Bar in
the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia,
Quebec and British Columbia.

Throughout his successful legal career, Forrest has had broad business experience primarily in
negotiating contracts, dealing with regulatory authorities at the federal and provincial levels of government, and representing private and public
sector clients in resolving disputes.

Cindy Hick

Cindy brings 40+ years of experience in both administrative and management positions.
Throughout her career, Cindy has had extensive experience in planning and successfully executing a wide range of projects, both on a national and international scale. She has a proven track record of delivering the product on schedule and within budget. Cindy is a graduate of the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University. She is also the former Director of the Canadian Society of Professional Event Planners.

Bob Ballantyne, P.Eng FCILT

Bob, a civil engineer, has over 60 years of
experience in the transportation sector. In 1988,
he was assigned as President of the Railway
Association of Canada, where he directed the Association through a period of unprecedented
change; the RAC membership grew from
16 to 52 member companies, representing
virtually the entire rail industry. Bob is a Fellow
in the Chartered Institute of Logistics and
Transport, North America.

Forrest, Bob and Cindy believe in a consensus-building approach to their work and their strong leadership and communications skills
enable them to bring people together from diverse backgrounds into an integrated team.

The Canadian Society of Professional Event Planners is an association of 130 entrepreneurs in the meeting planning industry that promotes the professionalism of its members and is committed to providing credible and experienced meeting planning support to the corporate, association, government and not-for-profit sectors, as well as the special events market.

Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, founded in 1919, has over 30,000 members worldwide in 28 countries. The CILT in North America has Regional Councils in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico with members from all sectors of transport including the private sector, various levels of government, the academic world and the armed forces. Its role is to promote the recognition of excellence in transportation through transportation studies, public forums and liaison throughout the transport industry.

Canadian Society of Association Executives

CSAE strives to deliver the knowledge, resources and environment to advance association excellence. We pursue this mission by offering robust networking and learning opportunities, both online and in person, including an educational program leading to the Certified Association Executive (CAE®) designation.
